DENR Spearheads Environment Month Celebration in June

Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental -- The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here is spearheading the celebration of Environment Month in June with the theme "Your Planet Needs You! Unite to Combat Climate Change."

The activities slated for this month's celebration aim to raise the level of awareness on the gravity of environmental degradation and destruction of the natural wealth that threatens all life forms on earth and the quality of life of any Filipino.

The celebration kicked off on June 5 which is World Environment Day with a coastal cleanup and mangrove planting in Actin and Bongalonan in Basay and a roadside tree planting in Brgy. Maaslum, Ayungon.

DENR will likewise participate in the Independence Day celebration on June 12 during which they will distribute malunggay seeds/seedlings and award check to reforestation livelihood project beneficiaries in the province.

On the 24th there will be a Kapihan forum with the Philippine Information Agency while on the 25th is Arbor Day with tree planting activities in Bindoy and Dauin.
